Chrono-Fictions

3 - 26 April 2025
What is an artefact? And how do we engage with our records?

Chrono-Fictions brings together five hugely exciting young artists: Hazel O’Sullivan, Lauren Goldie, Phillip Rhys Olney, Oliver Murdock and Joseph Bird.

In works that span painting,
installation and sculpture they ask: What is an artefact? And how do we engage with our records?

Envisioning future relics and absurd technologies, the artists at hand view their own archives from a distant, retrospective stance. Blurring the lines between past and future, reality and fiction, these pieces reflect on the palimpsestic density of such objects and utilise visual narratives that simultaneously feel familiar and other-worldly.

Awards across the group include The Maffioli Art Group and The Morrison & Foerster Art Prizes, Arts Council Ireland's Agility Award, The Cecil Collins Memorial Award, the National Sculpture Prize, the British Museum Research Fellowship, and the Sir Frank Bowling Scholarship.
