Art to soothe and calm.
This group exhibition brings together 14 diverse and interesting artists. Across painting, ceramics, sculpture and works in wood, the unifying theme is a sense of serenity, calm and contemplation.
The concept behind the show is the scientific theory that time seems to unfold more slowly the more intently we examine something. Our focus in putting together the group and selecting their works has been to choose minimal pieces – whether in colour, mark-making or both – so that calm and close inspection can be encouraged and the apparent slowing of time induced.
We hope that the experience of viewing the exhibition is a sanctuary and escape for our visitors.
