A solo exhibition of new work by the acclaimed sculptor Rebecca Newnham.
Brook, Marsh, Moss considers the places where land meets water, specific riparian areas like riverbanks and salt marshes, and the life that flourishes there.
A characteristic feature of these areas is lichen. The presence of lichen signifies clean air and is found in profusion in the places that have inspired the work in this solo exhibition.
Across six distinct series of new work, Rebecca evokes and celebrates the natural environments which surround us, which we can easily overlook. She invites us to examine more closely these magical habitats and elements, in particular lichen and the hope it represents; a hope that we can live in harmony with our environment and thrive, respecting its natural balance.
The exhibition marks Rebecca’s third collaboration with the gallery and the first solo presentation.
